Buying an international airline ticket online?

Either at the airline website or something like cheaptickets.com,

do they send the ticket in the mail, or

once you put your credit card info in , do they give you a printable itinerary or

an eticket? If so, what does it look like?

Buying an international airline ticket online?
I have bought international tickets through the airlines before and have always gotten a printable itinerary. It basically has all the flight information, which includes the type of plane, what time it lands, length of flight, when the next one takes off and sometimes even the seat number. If it doesn't have the seat number, don't worry, you will get one assigned to you when you check in.

You may have to check in again along the way if you change airlines along your travel. Ask if you need to pick up your luggage and recheck them with the other carrier or if the airlines will handle that.

Call the airlines about 72 hours in advance of your trip to reconfirm your tickets.

Have a great trip!
